Oh My Baltus

10 01 2012

Most of the catalogs and promotional pieces we get from vendors are nice and normal. You expect to open up an email to see their new line or to flip through the new catalog seeing a lot of the same stuff. After looking through 20 new books a week it just all starts looking the same.

Today, this was not the case. We received a full bound, 250 page, 9×12″ photo book from BALTUS. I was honestly blown away. I have been familiar with their beautiful furniture for a while now, but today I had my breath taken away by how stunning their entire package was. The photography alone is enough to make me want to fill the studio with their product.

With touches of Holly Hunt-esque frame work, blended with Bolier type styling, their look is tailored and timeless. Using a wide range of impeccable finishes, the whole line flows from piece to piece without feeling monotonous.

Still No Snow?

9 01 2012

I am still dumbfounded that my world isn’t covered with snow. I usually approach January with a bit of a “Debbie Downer” type outlook. I prepare myself for below zero temperatures and know that I will most likely have to shovel my car out of its spot one too many times. But I was wrong. This year I must have done something oh-so-special to get a reprieve like this. (My apologies go out to all of you who actually DO enjoy the snow… Whomever you are.)

So consider this a little taste of what we could be walking out our door to see every morning. Phew.

However, that being said, perfect pieces of architecture really do come to life when dusted with a beautiful blanket of white.

See ya 2011. It’s been real.

29 12 2011

2011 has been one hell of a year for Interior Perfection Design Group. This time last year the two of us sat at my desk, arguing [shocking] about what we would use for our advertisement in our first issue of LUXE magazine in Chicago. Now, 12 months later, we have picked up a second Chicago publication (CS Interiors), had 2 features in CS Chicago Magazine, a feature in Luxe and are featured online through LUXESource International. Long story short, it’s been quite the whirlwind. As I sit at my desk, writing what will be the last blog of the year, I can’t help but imagine what we will achieve in 2012.

However, for the moment, I am FAR more concerned about my New Year’s Eve plans. As it stands right now, I am planning on rocking the Iowa City party scene and relishing in the fact that most of the college students have gone home for break.

No matter where you are, New Years plans have always been a time to outshine every other “normal” night of the year. Everyone makes it a priority to ring in the next 365 days with the people who mean the most to them and have as much fun as they possibly can. After spending most of my New Year’s past in Chicago, I am all too familiar with the $75 cover/appetizer/complimentary champagne toast, etc… But there is something to be said for getting gussied up with my girls and sipping a $20 martini in one of the most stylish clubs in the city.

What are your plans? If anything, you should stop in to Interior Perfections tomorrow and check out all of our AMAZING sales for the last business day of the year! Holiday decor, floor model furniture sales and 40% all candles in the store!

These are a few of my favorite things…

14 12 2011

::Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens::

::Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens:

::Brown paper packages tied up with string::

These are a few of my favorite things:

It’s raining. In the middle of December. And not even that gross kind of sleet, ice mixture, mid-December rain. The ‘April showers bring May flowers’ kind of rain. It’s 50 degrees and I’m pretty sure that’s not normal. Whatever the reason for this, I’m not all that upset by it. I admittedly turn into the crankiest, most sour side of myself in the dead of winter. I’m not proud of it, but there really isn’t much I can do about the fact that I DESPISE the cold.

In honor of the fact that I am still able to ride my motorcycle 2 weeks before the Holidays, I am posting a blog dedicated to all of my favorite things. Which really, after looking at this assortment turns out to be just as I expected.

To make it on my “I love you forever list” you must have one or all of the following: Rich, yummy, dark, grey/black/neutral tones with awesome contemporary/rustic/reclaimed accents and super cool lighting. The end.

So if you’re wondering what to get me for these impending Holidays, think about a deed to any of these homes. I’ll take any of them. No worries about disappointing me, just stick to the list. Please, and thank you.

However, if you’re not interested in purchasing a home, stop into the studio!!!

Indulge Yourself

8 12 2011

We all grew up under the impression that the holidays are about showing love and gratitude to the people who mean the most to us. Showering our loved ones with presents that say in the snap of a jewelry box, ‘you mean the world to me.’ Getting surprised by the one special thing you were hoping for from the one person you can’t live without.

Alright, now, what about showing yourself some love? You know you have your eye set on that one perfect thing that you just WISH someone would get for you. Why not go out and spoil yourself?

Show Your Local, Small, Business Love!

23 11 2011

Alright y’all. It’s that time again. No. Not Thanksgiving, I’m talking about shop-fest 2011. The kind of shop-fest that is causing technology hungry consumers to camp in front of Best Buy for a week before ‘Black Friday.’ The kind of shop-fest that influenced Panera Bread to open its door at 3 AM on Friday morning. (Yes, that’s actually true.)

While we are not completely and totally falling into the peer pressure of shop-hungry capitalism, we are here to say that we’ll be open for SPECIAL SUPER AWESOME HOURS on Saturday 11/26/11. The Interior Perfection staff will be taking a much-needed holiday on Thursday & Friday, but will be back in full swing on Saturday.

Come shop the studio for our extended hours: 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Support your local, small business and shop our AMAZING ONE DAY SAVINGS of 25-60% off everything in the store. All Holiday stock is first come first serve so make sure to get here early as our unique pieces go fast!!

All furniture, accessories, gifts, and Holiday decor will be on display in our 8,000 sq ft studio @ 1450 Boyson Rd. Building A, Hiawatha!!

Oh, and of course, Happy Thanksgiving to all. We at Interior Perfection’s are thankful for all of your loyal business over the years! Looking forward to seeing you. Make sure to bring refreshments if you’re planning on camping out all night, it’s gonna be a chilly one.

Holiday Gift Idea #1

21 11 2011

So… I’m panicking. Somewhere in the whole scheme of things, I forgot that the holidays generally equate to gifting outrageously perfect things to those that mean the most to you. Whoops. So far I have settled on one successfully perfect gift. My dear sister can revel in the fact that she was the first and only one I have yet to think about. (One could also take this as a subtle hint that she better get me something equally as impressive… Just sayin’.)

I have to believe that I am not the only one who has yet to start shopping for that ‘perfect gift,’ so I am coming to the rescue. Over the course of the next couple weeks I will dish out some super awesome gift ideas that you can find under one roof, Interior Perfection’s roof to be more exact.

First on the list is the brand new line of candles we brought. KOBO Candles boast a pure soy composition and were created by and for those passionate about memorable scents. Made from domestically grown sustainable soybeans, these candles create the cleanest burning medium and a perfect level of fragrance yield. In addition to their unparalleled construction, the fresh look of KOBO packaging is beautiful enough that it need not even be wrapped. And if you’re anything like me, that last bit about “not needing to wrap anything” is all I need to hear.

Come to the studio and check out our two classic lines featuring the following scents: Moon Wisteria, Siberian Cypress, Opoponax Amber, Cultured Sake, Opal Basil, Kyoto Quince, Anisette Orange, Green Pearl Jasmine, Portuguese Olive Blossom, D’Anjou Lychee, White Birch Rosemary and last but not least, Vetiver and Shaved Vanilla (featured in our Parade Home 2011)
